January '98; Portland, OR – The craft brew capital of the country now has a new taste treat for visitors flying in and out of Portland International Airport – the Widmer Pub. Located in the D Concourse, the Widmer Pub features a variety of delicious foods as well as the entire line of Widmer specialty biers including Hefeweizen, Amberbier, Widberry, Blackbier, Vienna and Pilsner. Select Widmer seasonal biers and test brews are also on tap.

"The Widmer Pub at Portland International is a great place for tired travelers to rest and refresh," says Kurt Widmer, President of Widmer Brothers Brewery. "Even if travelers are just changing planes and don't have time to make it into town to visit any of Portland's great breweries, they can pop into the Pub and still experience the taste that's put us on the map as America's best bier city."

The Widmer Pub is about 1,700 sq. feet, and seats approximately 60 people. It is managed by Concessions International, the management firm that runs several other airport restaurants. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, the menu features sandwiches, salads and boxed bento to go, as well as several of the German standards featured at the Widmer Gasthaus Restaurant, including German potato salad, sausages, and bratwurst. "We hope the Widmer Pub at Portland International will give travelers another delicious choice when they're looking for something good to eat or drink."

In addition, several popular Widmer retail items are available for busy travelers seeking a Portland momento or gift. "The Widmer Pub at PDX makes it very easy to take a 6Ðpack of your favorite bier and a Widmer tÐshirt to friends or relatives in other cities."

Brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer founded Widmer Brothers Brewing Company in 1984. The Widmer combination of craft, innovation, and commitment has resulted in a winning blend that's propelled Widmer as a leading craft brewery, and produced some of the most popular craft biers in the country including America's Original Hefeweizen¨, which for more than eight years has remained the topÐselling craft bier in Oregon.
